Woodford Folk Festival 2013 programme announced

The Woodford Folk Festival, is back for its 28th year with what could be considered their most ambitious programme ever. Woodford will feature over 500 acts across 28 venues with 1235 shows across six incredible days and nights. Imagine organising that!

Celtic dance rock, cabaret pop, salacious debates, reggae soul, indie folk chart toppers, the call of an English acoustic folk goddess, learning the Woodfordian Waltz, the finest expressions of Indigenous traditional and contemporary music and movement, giraffes on stilts (eh?), 70’s flavoured Bollywood surf funk, slide guitar wizards, comedy, a collection of intellects, circus, vaudeville flare and an organ salesman, it’s all there.

The lineup announced today includes: Beth Orton (ENG), The Basics, Clare Bowditch, Matt Corby, Tim Finn (NZ), Half Moon Run (CAN), Julian Marley (JAM/ENG), Busby Marou, Buffalo Tales, Chance Waters, Thelma Plum, Shellie Morris, Blue King Brown, Brendan Maclean, GANGgajang, Jordie Lane, Rose Cousins (CAN), Babylon Circus (FRA), Breabach (SCOT), Rachel Sermanni (SCOT), The Twoks with a whole lot more to follow.

Woodford also welcomes leaders in their fields appearing at the festival, including: Bob Hawke, Professor Ian Lowe, Dr Stuart Glastonbury, Anna Rose, Simon Sheikh, Denise Scott, Susan Johnson, Benjamin Law, Michelle Law, Melanie Tait, Kevin James Carroll, Robert Pekin, Dr Jessica North, to name just a few.

Woodford is amongst the most adored festival experiences in Australia, and indeed the world. “We see our festival programme as a catalogue of offerings that might satiate the best audience a festival could hope for” said Festival Director, Bill Hauritz.
