The Flaming Lips Release Preview of New Album

The Flaming Lips have released a preview of their upcoming album, The Terror, on a video featuring a medley of the LP’s nine tracks.

The Terror will be the group’s 13th album since their 1986 debut, and will be released on April 1.

Their record label, Bella Union, have described it as a “darker-hued spectrum than previous works along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect”.

The medley definitely captures this vibe, using their typical distortion-heavy, electronic sound to create some very big sounds under frontman Wayne Coyne’s distinctive vocals.

It’s an enjoyable recording in its own right, and the trippy visuals are the perfect accompaniment, so be sure to check it out and have a listen to the album on it’s release later this week.

It has also been announced that Dan Deacon has remixed the entire album, and his electronic ‘Mashed-The-F-Up-Remix’ will be released alongside the original.

Watch the medley below.
