Midnight Oil Gallery Retrospective to open at Manly Art Gallery

A new travelling art exhibition designed to celebrate the ‘power and the passion’ of Midnight Oil and the impact the band had musically and culturally will be opening at Manly Art Gallery and Museum on July 20. After a stay there the exhibit will begin touring nationally.

‘Midnight Oil’, which was developed by Manly Art Gallery with the assistance of Oils drummer Rob Hirst, will feature a large array of band memorabilia, including some never before seen photos from the private collections of band members and footage of a number of performances including an unseen film of a performance at the 1981 Tanelorn Festival in Stroud, NSW; and ‘Rob’s Folly’, a 'full immersion simulation' of a Midnight Oils gig at the Narrabeen Royal Antler Hotel in the early eighties.
