Midnight Oil Comeback Not Happening

Despite persistent rumours and Peter Garrett all of a sudden having a lot of spare time on his hands, Midnight Oil have zero plans on making a comeback.

Talk has been rife that the Oils may get back together in some capacity since Peter Garrett's decision to walk away from politics at the upcoming federal election in the wake of the latest Labor leadership spill.

Garrett, a Gillard supporter has signaled plans to walk away as the Federal member for Kingswood Smith and as Minster for Education in the wake of the change of leadership.

Word had been so strong of a comeback that long time manager of the band Gary Morris has issued a press release stating that a reunion is not on the cards.

In the presser, Morris is quoted as saying;

“Midnight Oil’s legacy is undeniable, we have achieved great things together, there is much to be proud of in the band’s list of achievements, we are brothers in arms and I will always be there for them”

“However in light of recent speculation as to whether the band will reconvene now that Peter is quitting the political arena, now is the time to make my own position clear as to my future involvement with Midnight Oil.”

The man himself Garrett is also quoted in the release saying “We truly did accomplish amazing and enduring things working together and we should treasure that, now and in the future.”

The Oil's were last on stage at the bush fire relief concert Sound Relief at the MCG back in 2009, and by the sounds of it that will remain their last gig for some time.
