Lyrics Born & Lateef Reunite for First Latyrx Album in 16 Years

It's been 16 years since the duo of Lyrics Born and Lateef the Truth Speaker, AKA Latyrx released The Album. Now comes the appropriately titled The Second Album (why mess with the formula) which is due November 5.

The album will feature rhymes from fellow Quannam MCs member Gift of Gab from Blackalicious. Production will come from artists as diverse as tUnE-yArDs, the Decemberists' Chris Funk, and Anticon's Jel.

Lyrics Born describes the album as: “deliberate gibberish; it’s very eclectic, mature, nonsensical imaginative, poetic, organic, synthetic, but all smackin.”

The duo certainly haven't slept in the interim between albums. Separately the MCs have produced a total of eight solo albums, three EPs, and 10 mixtapes. Not to mention the endless collaborations they have worked on with other artists.

Here's the official video for lead single 'Gorgeous Spirits (Aye, Let's Go!)':
