'Her' is a rather unusual film about a man, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who falls in love with his computer's rather sultry operating system, as voiced by Scarlett Johansson. It opens here this weekend, but as it was in limited release in the US in time the quirky Spike Jonze offering is getting quite a lot of Oscar Buzz, including for the score which features a big contribution from Arcade Fire.
According to Jonze the band worked on the score and Reflektor simultaneously and that one of the tracks that made the cut on the 2013 album, 'Supersymmetry was originally written with the film in mind specifically. Speaking to HitFix Jonze said; "Win Butler and I started talking about the score about two years ago, and then it kinda seemed like the record sort of informed the soundtrack and the soundtrack informed the record a little bit, and there’s like a song on Reflektor—the last one, ‘Supersymmetry’—that he wrote for the movie, but then it sort of became something else. It’s actually the last song in the end credits.”
The score, which is previewed in the movie trailer below, also features Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O.
