Lemmy from Motorhead fitted with pacemaker

Earlier this year metal stalwarts Motorhead postponed their planned European tour until 2014. Now guitarist Phil Campbell has revealed that the decision to postpone was made in order to allow frontman Lemmy to recover after being fitted with a pacemaker.

Well known as a hard living kinda guy, Lemmy was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and the device was fitted to regulate that. He also suffers from diabetes.

According to Campbell, the stoic Lemmy has recovered very well, although he says it can be hard to work out just how his longtime friend and bandmate is really doing; "The main problem is that he’s displayed such a hard persona all his life that it makes it difficult for him to let people in. He’s like the John Wayne of rock – always wanting to soldier on and handle things on his own, you know?"

The tour, which has now be rescheduled for February 2014 will be the band's first chance to showcase their latest album, their 21st such release, 2013's 'Aftershock' to a large live audience.
