Josh Homme says his next priority is finishing the new Eagles of Death Metal Album

The Queens of the Stone Age are wrapping up their stint on the road in Australia tonight in Hobart, their only standalone headline date of the whole trip. The end of the tour does not mean however that frontman Josh Homme is heading back to California to laze around for next few months though. Instead he plans to get right to work on finishing the new Eagles of Death Metal album.

Speaking to New Zealands 3 News Homme said; “Jesse [Hughes, EODM frontman] is extremely contagious in a wonderful way. Ideally, everyone catches it, you know what I mean?” said Homme, adding, “I intend to go home and jump right back in. It’s been tough, and I feel like responsible for it not being done, because I am here! I hate being at the epicentre of what something isn’t happening. So I am going to go home and jump into that.”

He also revealed that he had traded working on another Desert Sessions EP for working on the Eagles of Death Metal album but the project has not been forgotten; “I was going to do a Desert Sessions this year but we did some Eagles recording instead… Because Desert Sessions works best at a certain time of the year when everything slows.”

“At the end of the year, in that December-January timeframe, everyone has exhaled. And post-exhale is the time to do something like that. So if I miss that window… I miss that window."

There is no set release date for the new EODM LP yet and lets not forget that Josh has also said he would like to get QOTSA back into the studio before the end of the year, so it looks like he is for a very busy year.
