'Harlem Shake' Samples Cleared By Diplo

As the man in charge of the Mad Decent label, Diplo cleared samples that Baauer used in 'Harlem Shake'.

According to Rolling Stone, these samples were unlicensed and could have caused some legal troubles for the artist.

Diplo made compensation arrangements with Jayson Musson and Hector Delgado, who were both sampled in the hit song.

Diplo has recently expressed that 'Harlem Shake' meant a lot for the Mad Decent label: "Honestly, that record was the thing that saved the label, because a year ago we were going to fold because we couldn't figure out how to make money. Then we just started giving music out for free and it worked out."
