Damon Albarn says there's material for a new Blur album but they don't have time to record it

Last year it was heavily rumored that Blur were getting ready to do some serious work towards recording a new album after Damon Albran had finished up his first solo effort. That is done now and Everyday Robots is set for release on April 28 but according to Albarn the Blur album is unlikely to be finished any time soon.

Speaking to Rolling Stone he said; There is material. But I can't foresee us in the near future being in a position to finish it. We're just all doing other stuff." he was a little more positive about the band in general though saying "It's a big part of my life. I'll never abandon the spirit of it ever. It's kind of in me." Since reforming in 2008 the band have released the one off singles 'Fool's Day', 'The Puritan' and 'Under The Westway' so perhaps another of those is in the future? Albarn did not say.

He did however also discuss his other project Gorillaz and what the future might hold for that; "Apart from the visuals, I am Gorillaz. I am the recording when it comes to Gorillaz. It's complicated since it's just me. Just because I was a cartoon... There's no difference, really... It's a bit embarrassing for me to say 'yes' or 'no' about stuff that's my stuff anyway. I just don't see it like that. I've been playing Gorillaz songs in rehearsal and some of them sound really fresh, so I'll definitely be playing them on my tour. So, is Gorillaz here or is it not here?"
