Damon Albarn reveals Blur have recorded 15 songs but don't expect an album any time soon

Damon Albarn picked up the NME Award for Innovation at the 2014 NME Awards in Austin, Texas on Wednesday evening. During an after show interview he was asked, once again, about the possibility of a new Blur album, an issue that he (slightly reluctantly) addressed again.

When pressed about new Blur material Albarn said "Oh for gawds sake. I always get cast as the the bad guy in what seems like a very circular discussion. All of us are doing other stuff at the moment. I felt like we put in a good shift last year but this year, and next year, and maybe the next year I'm doing other stuff. But I love making music with those guys and if all of us collectively feel that this is the best thing we could do we'll do it again. But until that happens we won't"

Not, he revealed, that they lack material for a new album; "We recorded 15 songs, but just because you record 15 songs doesn't mean you have an album. Maybe for some bands it is but for us it's probably like the first quarter of a record."
