Damon Albarn admits he found drug use 'incredibly creative'

As he continues making the rounds to promote the upcoming Everyday Robots Damon Albarn spoke about his drug use at the height of Blur's popularity and admitted that he found using heroin to be 'extremely productive'.

Speaking to Q Magazine Albarn said; “I hate talking about this because of my daughter, my family. But, for me, it was incredibly creative. A combination of [heroin] and playing really simple, beautiful, repetitive shit in Africa changed me completely as a musician. I found a sense of rhythm. I somehow managed to break out of something with my voice.” Albarn did go on to add that he has been clean for a number of years now and that drugs are "a cruel, cruel thing.[Heroin] does turn you into a very isolated person and ultimately anything that you are truly dependent on is not good.”

Albarn also addresses drug use on the new album, most specifically in the track 'You and Me, which you can watch below.
