Compressorhead: Literally The Ultimate 'Metal' Band

Move over Florence, there's a new band of machines on the scene.

Right at a time in music history when programming is being hotly debated, robot band Compressorhead are here to put a new meaning to 'electronic sounds'.

Compressorhead is a three piece rock cover band from Frankfurt, Germany. They're made up of pre-programmed robot musicians, Stickboy (drummer), Bones (bassist) and Fingers (guitarist).

Just in case you think it's all a bit of a joke though, the band are very quick to show their legitimacy. They even have their own website (compressorheadband.com/) complete with merchandise, song downloads and band interviews!

It doesn't take long to notice how similar the Compressorhead logo is to the iconic Metallica writing - further consolidating the band's links to the world of metal.

According to the website, the concept for Compressorhead came about through a general pondering: "How about if Angus Young had 78 fingers? Imagine what Robert Trujillo would sound like if he was actually made of metal?" Enter: the only available means of testing that query.

With funding from music giant Gibson and a growing fan base, Compressorhead is set to become a regular fill in between sets at the Big Day Out. Ahem... Batteries not included...

Whilst they're not the most enthusiastic of bands, there is something hypnotic and intriguing about watching these three metalheads rock out to Motorhead's 'Ace Of Spades':
