Cat Empire Back in Australia for National Tour

The Cat Empire are back home after headlining summer festivals across North America and South America. The Australian leg of their world tour kicks off on Friday September 6 with many shows already sold out.

Tinpan Orange will now joining The Cat Empire on the road in replacement of Hiatus Kaiyote. The tour covers all states except Tasmania, with the band also being announced for Falls Festival and Southbound.

This marks the first leg of their Steal The Light World Tour, which will see the band play over 80 cities globally by the end of November.

The Cat Empire have had a huge year, with the May release of their album Steal The Light landing in the top 20 on the iTunes charts in 6 countries, and at No.1 on the AIR charts for 7 weeks so far this year.

During the Canadian leg of their recent tour over 200 000 people crammed the Montreal town square to watch the band, who first played their in 2006.

Brazil will also be added to the list of great experiences. Fans from Sao Paulo recently began lobbying via pledge site Queremos for The Cat Empire to tour the region.

After pledges reached 600 people in Sao Paulo and Rio within 48 hours, the band made their way to Brazil, in the end playing to thousands of people in each city.
