Bloc Party to take an extended break (again!)

Bloc Party has announced that they will once again be taking time off from each other once their current run of shows wraps up.

"Definitely after we finish the festivals in the summer, we'll be taking some time off. At least six months, maybe a year, maybe two years; it's hard to say," guitarist Russell Lissack told The National Post. "Once we start taking time off, people start doing their own thing. So once people start doing things then you'll start naturally extending how long we spend apart."

After the release of their 2009 effort Intimacy, the London outfit went on their first extended leave, with lead singer Kele Okereke putting out his solo record, The Boxer during their three year hiatus. The boys got back together with the release of their aptly-titled fourth album, Four, which saw them make the trip to Australia as one of the top billings during the Future Music Festival.

Band conflict has once again got the better of the boys and they will take time apart once their concert commitments have finished, with their place on the Latitude Festival line-up being their last. They will however give their fans once last hit of music before their break with an EP to be released in the coming months.

One of the bands most well known songs 'Banquet', taken off their 2005 debut Silent Alarm, recently clocked in at #56 on triple J's Hottest 100 of the Past 20 years, check out the clip here.
