2015 The Age Music Victoria Awards Winners

The Age Music Victoria Awards, are now celebrating their 10th year. They are split into the panel decided Genre Awards and the Public voted Awards. This year we saw our local music sensation Courtney Barnett dominating the awards taking home a quadruple decker with Best Song, Best Album, Best Band and Best Female Artist. Courtney quipped, "Here I am, awkwardly winning something else!" as she accepted her third award.

Other multiple artists winners were Raised By Eagles who grabbed Best Emerging Artist and Best Country Album and also Emma Donovan who won Best Indigenous Act and also Best Soul, Funk, R'n'B and Gospel Album with Emma Donovan And The Putbacks' album, 'Dawn'.

It was also good to see bluesman C.W. Stoneking winning the award for Best Male. Other notable winners were High Tension for Best Heavy Album for 'Bully', Smith Street Band for Best Live Band, who could not attend because they are currently touring the United States and the almighty Cosmic Psychos for Best Regional Act. Castlemaine keeps on dominating the Best Regional Venue with a win for the Theatre Royal. There was no surprises to see the Corner Hotel in Richmond again win the Best Venue Award and Golden Plains taking home the honours as the Best Festival. For the complete list of winners, see the list below.

The night started with a Hendrix inspired performance from Harts. The highlight was his performance of 'Breakthrough'. The charming Marlon Williams won over new fans with up-tempo songs.

Courtney Barnett's performance that had the whole room in rapture. Ironically her lyrics of "Put me on a pedestal, I'll only disappoint you." from 'Pedestrian At Best' was the polar opposite of what would happen moments later on, as she would accepted four awards. There certainly was no disappointment from anybody in that room, as Courtney has blazed her way to worldwide success.
