2015 Community Cup is feelin' kinda sporty with Adalita

One of Australia’s most revered musicians Adalita will be performing at this year's footy fundraiser for Reclink. Adalita is no stranger to The Community Cup as her former band, Magic Dirt played at the 2004 event with TISM and Paul Kelly. Adalita's current band comprises of Lewis Boyes, Matt Bailey and the stylish Dan McKay on drums. Last year's Community Cup had well over 10,000 people attending and over $100,000 raised to Reclink, when the Rockdogs decimated the Megahertz team comprising of community radio personalities from Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM. Last year's lineup included The Painters And Dockers, Saskwatch, Fraser A Gorman, The Smith Street Band and for the kids, Elmo with the Cookie Monster.

Are you "feelin' kinda sporty"? Well that is this year's Community Cup theme. A song that pays homage that Melbourne is one of the biggest sporting capitals of the world with popular events such as the Formula One Grand Prix, The Melbourne Cup, The Australian Open, Australian MotoGP Grand Prix, Cricket World Cup and of course our beloved Aussie Rules Football Grand Final. Based upon the classic song by Dave Graney ‘n’ the Coral Snakes, from his pivotal 1995 album, 'The Soft 'n' Sexy Sound'. Dave Graney won an ARIA Music Awards of 1996 for Best Male Vocalist and the Tony Mahoney directed music video for 'Feelin' Kinda Sporty' won the Aria's Best Video Award.

In related news....Dave Graney ‘n’ the Coral Snakes are reforming to perform their much acclaimed album “Night of the Wolverine” at the newly refurbished Memo Music Hall over two nights on Friday the 7th of August and Saturday the 8th of August. I had a chat with Clare Moore who confirmed that Dave Graney ‘n’ the Coral Snakes will NOT be playing at The Community Cup. Other bands will be announced soon and we at The Dwarf will keep you posted.
