Read: Macklemore's Grammy apology to Kendrick Lamar

The Grammys - and the awards given out - usually draw at least some controversy but the fact that, in the televised portion of this year's event, the award for Best Rap Album going to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis over a field of possibly far more deserving choices, including Kendrick Lamar for Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City raised more than a few eyebrows.

And it seems that included Macklemore himself. He posted the picture above on his Instagram account, a screenshot of the text he sent to Kendrick after the show was over in which he basically admits that yeah, that one was a bullshit decision with the following post;

"My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys"

Lamar, who is headed Down Under next month to join Eminem, J.Cole and 360, walked away empty handed on the evening, as he also lost out in the Best New Artist category to Macklemore and the Best Album to Daft Punk. He still managed however to turn in this rather lively performance with Imagine Dragons and bring the house down and get Taylor Swift mooovin....
