2013 Harvest Festival Announcement

2013 Harvest Festival Announcement

After the leaks of Neutral Milk Hotel and Mark Oliver Everett AKA The Eels that both bands will be appearance at the forthcoming Harvest Festival, the first announcement was made this morning. As previously reported, Neutral Milk Hotel will be touring Australia for the first time after their fourteen year hiatus. The Eels have just recently released their critically acclaimed tenth album, 'Wonderful, Glorious', so we look forward to seeing these new songs performed live in concert.

It is great to see Massive Attack being announced and it all makes logical sense to us, since fellow Trip Hop band, Portishead headlined the inaugural Harvest Festival back in 2011. With Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' in our minds due to the band's good showing in the recent Twenty Years of triple j's Hottest 100 list, polling in at number 31.

Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos made the following statement:

"Wow! there's some pretty amazing bands there. Crikey, I'm very excited about seeing Neutral Milk Hotel. Their album 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' is one of my highest favourites. Festivals in Australia are always the best - and we get to escape the stinking weather here."

Franz Ferdinand will release their anticipated new album 'Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action' on August 23 2013. Take a listen to their latest single, 'Right Action'.

Primus are returning to Australia after appearing last hear at Soundwave 2011. Other bands also announced include Goldfrapp, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, CSS, M Ward, Superchunk, The Drones, The Wallflowers, Desaparecidos and Walk Off The Earth. Desaparecidos is the new project headed by singer/guitarist Conor Oberst, the frontman of the popular indie folk band Bright Eyes.
