Sigur Rós Announce New Hard-To-Pronounce Album

Sigur Rós Announce New Album

Everybody's favourite Icelandic post-rock band, Sigur Rós, have announced that they're releasing a new album this year, entitled Kveikur.

Kveikur is the follow-up to last year's Voltari, and there are some expected changes in the sound of the new album following the departure of multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson, who left the band in January. Frontman, Jónsi Birgisson, has stated that the new material is "more aggressive" than previous releases.

Sigur Rós have also announced an extensive tour schedule to accompany the release of the album. The band was last out in Australia for the Harvest Presents festival last year, where they played shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. One can only hope they will be back down under touring the new album soon.

Kveikur isn't due for release until June 17, so that means we all have lots of time to learn how to correctly pronounce it's name.
