Going Solo? New Wolfmother Album To Be Released Under Frontman Andrew Stockdale’s Name

In a surprise move, Woflmother frontman Andrew Stockdale has dropped a bombshell via Twitter that the band's next album will be released under his name.

The decision comes nearly two years after Stockdale, bassist/keyboardist Ian Peres and former members Aidan Nemeth (guitar) and Will Rockwell-Scott (drums) first went into their studio in Byron Bay to create the follow-up album to the 2009 release Cosmic Egg.

Exactly who will appear on the new record however remains unclear. Guitarist Vin Steele and former drummer for The Vines, Hamish Rosser, were recently brought into the mix, but rumours are rife on fansite wolfmother.net that ex-Resin Dog and Cosmic Egg drummer Dave Atkins, who quit Wolfmother in 2010, is also involved.

Stockdale recently indicated on Twitter that fans will be able to get their hands on the new album, which currently answers to the working title of Gatherings, sometime this month: “I’m just trying to jump through the hoops to share this music with the world!”

Wolfmother will make their return to the Australian stage in April when they support American rock legends Aerosmith on their first tour of Australia in 24 years.

Aerosmith 2013 Tour Dates:

Sunday April 28 – ANZ Stadium, Sydney

Wednesday May 1 – Entertainment Centre, Brisbane

Saturday May 4 – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
