Melbourne Soundwave Off To Shaky Start As Mindless Self Indulgence Cancels Performance

Drama has unfolded at the Soundwave Festival in Melbourne today as Mindless Self Indulgence was forced to cancel their set.

A frustrated and apologetic Soundwave promoter, AJ Maddah, announced on Twitter that the group’s gear, luggage and equipment had been lost in transit on their trip to Melbourne and as a result would be unable to perform.

The American hybrid-rock band, which maintains a devout global fan base through non-stop international touring and energetic live performances, had been due to perform on Stage 2A at 1:15pm.

The Melbourne leg of Soundwave has already gotten off to a shaky start when thousands of disgruntled festival-goers were unable to enter the event this morning, due to the gates not being opened at their scheduled time. Maddah again took to Twitter to placate the unhappy masses (some of whom had been waiting in line since 4:30am), explaining that the gates couldn’t be opened before a safety issue on one of the crowd barriers had been resolved.
