Iggy And The Stooges New Album

Iggy And The Stooges have revealed their new album, entitled Ready to Die, will be released after their upcoming national tour of Australia this year.

Produced in San Francisco by the band's guitarist James Williamson, the new album will feature the original Stooges Iggy Pop on vocals and Scott Asheton on drums, with Mike Watt replacing previous bassist Ron Asheton.

The band announced that the two opening songs of the album will be entitled 'Burn' and 'Sex and Money.' It's been 40 years since the band's landmark punk album, Raw Power, and this is the first time since then that Iggy has made an entire album with Williamson and Asheton.

In an interview on the motivation behind this album, Iggy Pop knocks older bands for not releasing new records and merely performing old hits. Clearly indicating his desire not to become like this, he says: “It’s just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group, when they’re an older group, they also make fucking records…The Stooges are a real group.”

The album's release date is set for Tuesday April 30, and can be pre-ordered at the following site: fatpossum.com/products/…
