Van Halen to finally tour Australia

After months of speculation, Van Halen fronted by Diamond Dave AKA David Lee Roth has finally been announced to tour down under for the first time since 1998. They will be headlining the inaugural Stone Music Festival over a two day weekend in April at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. No interstate dates have been announced.

Also announced on the bill will be Billy Joel who last toured Australia on a double bill with Elton John. Other international bands so far announced include Richie Ramone (drummer of the iconic punk band, The Ramones), Buckcherry, Lifehouse and Illumination Road. On the local front, The Living End, The Superjesus and Baby Animals will be giving the two day festival some popular aussie tunes.

Just like a former Yellow Wiggle, Sammy Hagar will not be touring but hard rock supergroup, Kings Of Chaos will be a part of the bill. Kings Of Chaos including members of legendary band Guns N’ Roses plus many iconic special guest performers, with combined album sales of over 300 million worldwide.

The Stone Music Festival is inspired by the 1974 aussie cult biker film, Stone. The promoters have also joined forces with fans of the 1974 film to recreate The Stone Run, which is a motorcycle ride down the F3 freeway which was held in 1999 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie.

The festival takes place on the 21st and 22nd of April, at ANZ Stadium, Sydney. A single day ticket costs $179 and a weekend pass is $319. Tickets go on sale from noon on Thursday February 21.
