Since forming on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula five years ago, CARPATHIAN have been an indestructible force on unstable ground. Hampered by incessant line-up changes, they've nonetheless managed to assert their dominance at the forefront of the local hardcore pack.
Spending the first half of 2008 intensely writing songs for their new album "Isolation", the band took time out briefly in February to be the only Australian band to perform on the national Soundwave '08 tour. In May, they converged upon Getaway Recording, a studio situated in the basement of Jay Maas' suburban home in Wakefield, Massachusetts, just north of Boston. A respected hardcore producer who has pulled huge sounds for the likes of Shipwreck A.D. and Verse, Maas proved the perfect choice to help CARPATHIAN realise their vision for "Isolation".
"Isolation" is a thoroughly emphatic statement that ushers in a new era in Australian hardcore. When so many bands seem content to conform to the
status quo, CARPATHIAN have vowed to take things forward. Now with a solid line-up featuring Martin Kirby (vocals), David Bichard (drums), Lloyd
Carroll (guitar), Josh Manitta (guitar) and Ed Redclift (bass), and a clear-minded musical direction, they are on the front foot and poised for
true greatness.
A full Australian Tour will commence in July, where they will be touring with Break Even and The Broderick. Tickets go on sale June 11.
