Well it seems that Adelaide indie kids The Shiny Brights are on a roll. After recently announcing that they’ll be jetting off to the US for some industry showcases in October, they now have news that they’ve been offered the support slots for both of The Wombats shows at The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel. They’ll be becoming quite familiar with The Gov’s stage as they’ve also chosen the iconic Adelaide venue to launch their debut EP ‘Let’s Not And Say We Did’ on Saturday 30 August.

The new CD is a culmination of an exciting year for The Shiny Brights, gaining exposure via a DVD and the Australian National Campus Band Competition. The Shiny Brights – then known as Room One - are the only unsigned band on the Make Poverty History DVD. Headlining sell out shows, being named by The Adelaide Advertiser as one of the ‘7 local acts to watch out for in 2008’ and supporting some of the hottest acts like The Galvatrons, Dukes Of Windsor and Scientists Of Modern Music have helped further build the buzz around the band.

And now The Shiny Brights debut offering is done, dusted and ready to blind you with its silver foiled splendour. If you like to flick through booklets and fondle nice textures whilst playing a CD for the first time then you’ll surely marvel at the slick design and art direction for ‘Let’s Not And Say We Did’ fashioned by mash, an Adelaide-based design company who also created the artwork for Wolf & Cub’s ARIA award-winning ‘Vessels‘. However, if you are the type of person that likes to download your music, then you are also in luck - The EP will be available on itunes.com and amazon.com from 1st September 2008. It will be worth the wait. With the production quality and songwriting of an established outfit, this brilliant EP is sure to impress many. Utilising the more than capable hands of Producer, Chris Doherty at Sydney’s Studios 301, ‘Let’s Not And Say We Did’ pops and bops as hard as it rocks.

Try imagining TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Arctic Monkey’s Alex Turner, Elvis, and some wet gravel and you might get a feel for the power and timbre of Wolfgang’s vocals. Put it this way, the boy CAN sing. And rock. Add to these exceptional vocals a manic stage presence and you’ve got Wolf. Having said that, he doesn’t carry the band. The bands less-is-more song construction, pop sensibility and musicianship is just as critical to their accessible sound.

And just wait until you see the antics these five boys get up to when they’re on stage. There’s a reason the reviewers have described them as ‘barnstorming, energetic and electrifying’. ‘The Shiny Brights brought an insane, testosterone-driven, catatonic gusto to the table that put the other acts of the night to shame.’ (Miranda Freeman, fasterlouder.com.au). But don’t let the reviewers have all the fun – check them out for yourselves at The Gov on Saturday 30 August.
