The JD Set announces the dates for its second tour with Round 2 winners CALLING ALL CARS, CASUAL PROJECTS and BORNE! But this time JD has decided to make the party an open house with FREE entry! So all of you cash strapped university students and, let’s face it, anyone owning a car and can join in the frivolity!
Adelaide gets its first taste of The JD Set when the bands roll into Fowler’s Live in the city of churches and shake things up on 24 July; before heading to BORNE and CALLING ALL CARS local the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne on 31 July and then causing some madness at Sydney’s Gaelic Theatre on 7 August.
Round 2’s voting for The JD Set had a huge 42% increase in the number of people who plugged in and voted for their fave band to get the chance to go on the road!
Jack Daniel’s will stage The JD Set four times throughout 2008, giving a total of 12 up-and-coming local acts the chance to tour Australia before the year is out. It means music fans across the country will get to experience an unprecedented smorgasbord of awesome live talent that Australia has to offer. For all the hot new Australian music acts involved, The JD Set has every potential to be the start of something huge, the chance to become one of the biggest music acts in the country.
At the end of the year, once music fans across the country have had the chance to personally experience all the fantastic fresh live acts that The JD Set has had to offer, fans will once again be put to the vote, this time to pick their overall favourite live act from all of The JD Sets combined.
The winner of The JD Set Award 2008 will be announced during a live broadcast on Nova, which will include a performance of one of the winning band’s songs. As well as the kudos of the award, the triumphant act will receive a further boost to their career by way of a money-can’t-buy industry prize that, along with the access to scores of new fans through The JD Set, will help their continued journey towards becoming true Australian music legends.
A key element of The JD Set will be involvement with Support Act Limited (SAL) Australia’s Music Industry Benevolent Fund which provides relief and assistance to members of the Australian music industry in need or suffering hardship.
