Okay, so not strictly music news, but the news of comedian/satirist George Carlin passing away on Sunday at age 71 from heart failure has still affected us deeply here at The Dwarf. So, having our own medium in which to play, we shall pay tribute to the stern, gravelly voice of reason in this mad world. Here's some nuggets of humour and wisdom from the man himself:

If it’s true that our species is alone in the universe, then I’d have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.”

Soft rock music isn’t rock, and it ain’t music. It’s just soft.

I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.

The planet is fine. The people are fucked.

The only good thing ever to come out of religion was the music.

It isn’t fair: the caterpillar does all the work, and the butterfly gets all the glory.

Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.

Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.

The reason I talk to myself is that I'm the only one whose answers I accept.
