One beer.

Kicking off the night with a quickie before leaving to stroll down to the Barwon Club.

Three beers.

My first time here. Had a look around. The usual suspects. Not real crowded, but then I am early.

One beer to drink, one to hold.

The band room is a pretty good set up. A few poles, a few seats and a few punters. Many seem to be with one of the bands. All good. Hey, who’s that dude with the tights? Oh ok, it’s just the singer. This must be the first band. Hey they’re pretty good. Oh so rock n roll with the 80s oversized jumper and rock star posing, but at least he’s got the voice to back it up. Sharp tunes too. Overall I likes.

Back up Beer.

Haha, nice heckle from The Razor Cartel lad. Clearly the Geelong scene is a close knit one. Good to see. Catchy riffs. Hmmm, these guys should support The Vasco Era. Tight Pink Jeans, interestingly emo name for a band with such a classic Deep Purple rock sound.

Bar run.

Aw man, I hate chick singers. Well, no, I hate chick rockers. Awesome guitar tho, nice red and green swirls all over. Between that, the Islander front chick and the rather voluptuous drum kit I’m thinking there’s some luau action coming up. Or not.

One beer to drink, one to hold.

So Cloud City. Hey, she’s not bad. Really quite strong, and not forever pulling up her pants or messing with her hair. God that bass player is from another planet. Two guitars and the bass runs the melody! At least they respect his talent. Yeah, he’s awesome. Ohh, nice little guitar solo, and she nailed that note. Drummer dropped his stick, nice cover tho with the kicks. Pretty tight really.

Loo/bar run. Another two beers.

Ok Race the Fray lads, show me what you got. Nice scarf and reds wine, very Tim Rogers of you. Bit slow to start. Maybe the beers are having an effect, but you don’t sound as good as the recording. Damn. Hey, how about you other bands stick around to watch the other?? How rude. You know it sucks to play to noone. The new guitarist seems to be fitting in well, although being a brother probably helps. Hey there’s chicks dancing. Cute. Yeah I suppose its pretty good, a bit mello, a bit…kinda….arty I guess. This Art Will Play.

One beer to ruin them all.

After that desecration of the loo, I think I’d better go. Sorry to the Jades for not sticking around, but we know you’re brilliant anyway. Thankyou to my sponsors for the night, Cascade Pure Blonde.
