“I think when Andrew and Chris both put their feet down on their big muff pedals at the same time and we turned it all up, it all just came flooding out.”

Thus spoke drummer Myles Heskett of Australia’s premier power trio, Wolfmother. Thus rock is born.
Beneath each thatch of curls that adorns the heads of Wolfmother lays the cognitive frame work of a finely tuned machine geared for rock 'n' roll. Though it seems the rockers guide of ethics, handed down from generation to generation pertaining to the three hard hitting rules of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll perhaps don’t apply to these mad prophets of psycheldic melody.

“We get pretty crazy and messed up on tour, we often sample the local tea and scone shops and then we all hug,” he says.

The fine line of genius and insanity has been smeared into a hazy trip piece of nostalgic groove that has had the effect of gathering legions of converts in both the United States of America, United Kingdom not to mention the home shores of the Wolfmother cause. Since they unleashed their highly successful self titled EP in the not-so-long-ago days of 2004, they have been riding high. With airwave love coming from Triple J high rotation and the welcome wagon presented from the Falls Festival to Homebake, it seems that these boys are here to kick it up.

“It’s all happened so quickly and we haven’t had a lot of time to sit back and think too much about it all yet," says Heskett.

“We just get on with our work and try to give the best performance we can from day to day whether we are on tour or in the studio. We feel very lucky to be able to have had such amazing experiences.”

This rise through the ranks has been blindingly quick if not downright baffling. With the single “Minds Eye” released early October as a seductive audio tease of greater things to come. Once more Wolfmother will be set loose upon us to further cement their free love authority over us all.

“We spent around a month doing pre-production with our producer Dave before we started recording, but the tracks have been stewing for some time now.

“We don’t really have any expectations, we are just happy to be finally releasing it on to the poor unsuspecting citizens of earth.”

With any release from a band of this magnitude, a national tour is burning bright on the not-so-distant horizon. With the Brisbane show kicking it off this weekend. These fine lads are well known for their ability to lay it down thick n’ heavy live. This tour is going to be no exception.

“This one is gonna be a blast. We are on bigger stages with better gear, a kick ass crew and we’ve been cooped up in the studio for far too long, so we are ready to make some noise! Set up nice and tight and just let the mojo flow.”

With minds set on search and destroy, the midnight howl rings out loud signaling for the faithful to gather. It looks as if Wolfmother are set to serve another session of good loving, mojo making rock n roll.

Wolfmother play the Meredith Music Festival December 9-11.
