Opening with an intro of violins - the scene is set for an atmospheric album. 'Keep myself awake' is a brilliant first track. It incorporates real instruments and real music with hip hop beats and raps. It instantly brought a smile to my face. I must say that this album sounds so full and flawless, the mixing is genius.

As it says on the info pack "True Live are not your standard hip hop group." This group features cello, violin, keys and double bass. Add to that some beats and then sprinkle with rhyming and there you have it. It really works.

This is the sort of music that gets you pumped and ready for a night out. I have to be honest here - I'm pretty picky when it comes to my music - especially hip hop and funk. But from the moment I heard this album I was a fan. Now really, thats saying a lot. Lyrics are important - and True Live really hit home with that too.

I must admit that real music as a backing to rap really works. "Try walk left" reminds me of something -but who cares? It makes you want to jump, and I like it. Turn this baby up.

'The Shape of it' is a funky album. It makes you want to dance. It makes you want to go out. It makes you want to get funky. And really, thats pretty cool. Check out something different on the hip hop market. 'True Live' are an exciting group, and should certainly be one to watch.
