Behind Crimson Eyes

Being a big fan of the local hardcore scene, I was very excited when A Revelation For Despair turned up one
morning in my letterbox. Running to my CD player, throwing Miles Away on the bed, and pushing play, all my
dreams were confirmed.

Behind Crimson Eyes combine all the characteristics of a great hardcore band...heavy overtones, although melodic choruses, angry vocals, and with all this, a tune that you can just keep listening to over and over again, without having to worry about it becoming a 'Nova' song.

While their song names are fairly unusual, and almost NOFX like, they give the album its uniqueness (if you can call that a word). The names of the songs may not be the happiest in the current music scene, but, the songs aren't about their best mate's girlfriend, and all that other emo stuff that seems to be taking control at the moment. However, I struggled to find a connection between a few of the songs and their actual song names...maybe something that Behind Crimson Eyes pulled out continue their trend of being like nothing heard before.

The first i heard of Behind Crimson Eyes was on Triple J, where some young lad from Dubbo requested Shakedown. As I listened for the very first time a few months ago, i liked what i heard. Shakedown is not the only great song on the album, with 'You've had your chance', and 'Dial H for Whore' being amongst the songs on high repeat on my iTunes.

With the Gravity Games festival featuring the lads this weekend, I will be doing all I can to secure a ticket, a front
row position, and my best screaming voice. If Behind Crimson Eyes can put on a show as good as their CD sounds, music fans are in for a treat. Get behind this great Australian act, get their CD, and get your dose of Hardcore.
