» Imaginary Things - Delamare

Hailing from the city of churches, the five piece band Delamare have released their debut EP Imaginary Things. Produced by Luke Webb, the EP shows just how commercially sound the band already is with plenty of pop hooks and catchy lyrics.

Having only formed earlier this year the fact that Delamare has already released an EP is quite a feat in itself. However upon closer inspection the five track EP does little to make the band sound unique or individual. Songs like Your Favourite Song and Camera Shy Girl are essentially cheesy love songs hidden behind the polished sound of drums and guitars. The later even bears an uncanny resemblance to the Mr.G song Naughty Girl, which only makes the EP more comical.

The one saving grace is Little White Lies which is made bearable with its collective “Hey, Heys” in the chorus. There’s no doubt that Delamare do have talent when it comes to structuring songs and making them commercially appealing, but there is nothing about this EP that makes you want to find out more about the band. Perhaps it was not such a good idea for them to release an EP so soon after all. One can only hope that through more touring Delamare with find their own sound instead of being identical to the bands they are probably listening to right now.
