‘Gone’ is the second single lifted off Brisbane band The Butterfly Effect’s second album ‘Imago’. The lyrics are a little limp and whiny (see lines such as ‘I’ve got the sun in my eyes’ and ‘These feet are too tired to carry on’), but are disguised nicely by the punchy melodic guitar and strength of Clint Boge’s vocals. It all makes for fun belting along to with an expression of angst plastered across the face.

Previously unreleased B-side ‘Mute’ nicely complements the title single. Where ‘Gone’ is the big ballad, ‘Mute’ is more toned down and delicate. The mellow bass line and restrained guitar creates a mystic atmosphere. The first verse starts out soft and gentle before building up to a chorus which teases to let loose and take off, but manages to contain itself. The vocals are sensitive and sultry, with Boge almost whispering over the verses. Seriously seductive stuff.
