Perth band Little Birdy's latest offering is 'Bodies' , a five track EP and the second single released from their album Hollywood.

The title track 'Bodies' is a fantastic song, showcasing Katy Steele's captivating vocals and some great keyboard work. It's a strong song that will have you singing along and will stick with you long after you have finished listening to it.

Little Birdy have done an amazing cover of Gyroscope's 'Beware Wolf'. I loved this song. The hypnotic keyboards, amazing guitars and Katy's unique vocal style add to a great track. I'm going to have to track down Gyroscope's version to see how it compares.

Next is 'Hollywood' a reworking of the title track from their album by Damien Crosby from The Panda Band. 'Hollywood' is a strong, captivating song with fantastic backing vocals. This is a great version of a great song. Their alternative version of 'Come On, Come On' I found fell a little flat. I still love this song, but much prefer the album version.

'Bodies (Demo)' was the original version that helped convince John King of the Dust Brothers to work with the band. The title track which John King worked on is a much tighter, stronger version of this song. I'm not a huge fan of having the same song twice on a single, unless the versions are vastly different, and I could have done without this one.

I've only had the pleasure of catching Little Birdy live once, and that was a short showcase of a few songs and an album signing in Queen Street Mall, Brisbane, but I tend to judge bands by whether they can emulate the magic they create on CD live, and Little Birdy delivered. But much as I love Little Birdy and Katy's vocal style, whenever I listen to their songs I can't help feeling that she's holding back a little.

All in all though, this is a very tight EP with some strong, amazing songs on it. Little Birdy just keep getting better with each release. Do yourself a favour and have a listen.
