Orchids are my favorite flower. Just thought you should know that, so you see I'm being completely honest and showing no bias towards The Boat People's new one track single Awkward Orchid Orchard. It is a light hearted, boppy and carefree song. The instruments all go together very nicely. There isnt too much distortion and over the top musical stuff.
The lyrics and vocals mingle like a pair of seasoned salsa dancers. I dont know much about The Boat People and this single just makes me want to hear and find out more. They have just signed a publishing deal with Ivy League Music, so chances are we will be hearing a whole lot more about this band very soon. With scheduled single launches in mid June you dont have an excuse not to get along to support and check out The Boat People in action. They have been together almost a decade ad in that time have perfected the breezy alternative pop song.
I dont know if they offer more, because the one track single doesnt give much away. I'll have to wait until their album is released in July to find the answer. In the meantime I recommend this single to anyone wanting to escape for a little while. It is 'getting ready to go out' music and is sure to get you excited. Or atleast mildly interested. If not, just think of the orchids and smile.
