The Below Average Tour

Trials, Sesta and Hons of the Funkoars took the stage at the Coolangatta Hotel on Saturday night for the Queensland leg of the 'Below Average' Tour. The tour is named after their latest single, 'Below Average', which reminds the listener that it's not only okay to be a failure at everything, it is encouraged. With that said, it would be fair to assume the boys might have slacked off on this tour, but this proves to be far from the truth. Performing for a smaller than usual crowd, the Funkoar lads were not phased; they gave their intimate Gold Coast audience an above average 110%.

Trials and Sesta, dressed in casual and comfortable attire, received sympathy from some crowd members for their below average fashion sense. Witnessing the pair performing with bare feet; one fan threw his shoes on to the stage, in a loving-drunken gesture.

As a tribute to the legendary Aussie game show host, Larry Emdur, a colourful wheel was rolled onto the stage, accompanied by a performance of the song 'Larry Emdur' dedicated to the TV personality. Lucky audience members were called upon to participate in the Funkoars edition of the Wheel of Fortune. After spinning the wheel, Hons handed a condom to each contestant and asked them to blow the condoms up with their noses. As the condoms grew, so did the excitement. Hons got up close and personal to check out the action!

Later, barefoot bandits, Trials and Sesta jumped on the decks for an energetic DJ set while Hons hyped the crowd. With heads down and butts out, the pace was enough to get dreadlocks bouncing!

In a final show of love for their fans, the Adelaide hip hoppers invited the entire audience to join them on stage. With the dance floor empty, Trials, Hons and Sesta shared the stage for their final songs.

The Funkoars

The Funkoars might have set the bar low when naming this tour the 'Below Average' Tour, but don't be fooled. They put on an energetic, charismatic, and humorous performance that is well and truly above average.
